The artwork began with a photograph of Ruba Nadda at sixteen in Damascus, reimagined through the romantic, nineteenth-century world of Brontë & Dickens. Its warm archival tones give the portrait the feeling of something discovered in an old bookshop: mysterious, cinematic, and already carrying a story.
